PURPOSE: A menu of a set top box and a method of selecting the menu are provided to give a specific character to each of items of the menu and push the character through a key operation unit so as to select a desired menu item. CONSTITUTION: A menu of a set top box includes a main menu(30), a sub-menu(40), and a menu calling part(50). The main menu is composed of a plurality of items that are displayed to allow a user to select and set a function of the set top box using a key operation unit. The sub-menu is displayed at one side of a main menu item when the user selects the main menu item. The sub-menu is composed of a plurality of detailed items with respect to the main menu item. The menu calling part is represented in a specific character recognizable by the user at one side of the main menu and sub-menu. The user pushes the specific character using the key operation unit to select the corresponding main menu and sub-menu. The menu calling part is composed of figures.
