METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CODING/DECODING INFORMATION

PURPOSE: A method and a system for coding/decoding information are provided to suppress a DC component of codewords converted so as to improve density of information. CONSTITUTION: Data is received, and a DC component value with respect to Q bits of the received data is calculated and c-bit control bit that reduce the DC component value is inserted into the data. The data including the control bit is converted into n-bit codewords (n is an integer larger than m) in unit of m-bit information word (m is an integer). The n-bit codewords are divided into three types and three kinds of coding states. Codeword sets belonging to coding states other than the three types of coding states do not include any common codeword. Most of the codewords belonging to each coding state are allocated to each m-bit information word. When a previous m-bit information word has been converted into the first type m-bit codeword, one m-bit information word is converted into the first, second or third kind n-bit codeword. When the previous m-bit information word has been converted into the second type n-bit codeword, the m-bit information word is converted into the first or third kind of n-bit codeword. When the previous m-bit information word has been converted into the third type n-bit codeword, the m-bit information word is converted into the first kind n-bit codeword.
