PURPOSE: A method for reducing read-in time of a CD player is provided to reproduce information recorded in a disc without reading TOC data every time so as to minimize read-in time of the disc. CONSTITUTION: When a user mounts a disc on a CD mount of a roulette and moves a turn-table into a CD changer(S11), the roulette is rotated to check the target disc(S12). When it is judged that a disc is mounted on the CD mount table(S13), the turn-table homes in and a pick-up unit is operated to perform focus pull-in so as to read positions A0, A1 and A2 among TOC data of a read-in area of the disc(S14). It is confirmed if TOC data of the disc is stored in a memory previously, and the positions A0, A1 and A2 of the TOC data is compared with the TOC data stored in the memory(S15). When the TOC data stored in the memory previously and the TOC of the disc are identical to each other(S16), data recorded in a program area of the disc is reproduced without reading the TOC data(S18). When the two TOC data items are not identical to each other, the TOC data of the disc read-in area is read and stored in the memory(S17) and the data recorded in the program area of the disc is reproduced.
