PURPOSE: An apparatus for sharing a bootup program between control units of a distributed type transmission system and a method therefor are provided to apply one bootup program type in case that a type of a shelf having a sub-control unit is varied by sharing the bootup program of the sub-control unit. CONSTITUTION: A bootup program block(322) has a software for designating an initial procedure of a CPU(321) when performing a booting. A RAM(324) has a boot strap region for storing a software which designates an initialization procedure of each device of a sub-control unit(320) and input and output units(310) and a download procedure of an application program, and a run region for storing data when performing the application program. An application program block(323) stores a software for designating a control and monitoring procedure of the input and output units(310).
