PURPOSE: An apparatus for remotely detecting whether abnormality is generated on a reverse link of an optical relay system is provided to detect whether the abnormality is generated on the reverse link in a repeater child station of a relay system located in a remote place. CONSTITUTION: A pilot signal generating unit(150) responds to a control signal and generates a pilot signal. A synthesizer(137) synthesizes the pilot signal and a reverse communication signal. The pilot signal generating unit(150) detects the control signal from a signal inputted through an optical cable.
