PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bagging machine and a bagging method which can carry out a satisfactory bagging where an object to be packed is securely inserted to the bottom part of a bag, even when the object is to be bagged in a state it is fitted to a packing bag. SOLUTION: In this bagging machine 1, the mouth of the uppermost bag Fa of a bundle Fb of stacked bags is partly opened, on opener 2 is inserted into the mouth of the bag, and then an object W to be packed is inserted. The bagging machine 1 is provided with a pressing member 14 for pressing an extended portion formed on the mouth of the uppermost bag Fa. The pressing member 14 presses the extended portion of the uppermost bag Fa at least from the point that the front end of the object W is inserted into the bag to the point that the front end thereof reaches the bottom part of the bag.
