PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrahigh pressure generating apparatus in which the conditions to support all anvils can be equalized with one another and the position of each of the anvils can be adjusted easily. SOLUTION: Each of the upper and lower guide blocks 1, 2 has a through- hole in the center and upper and lower quadrangular pyramid slopes formed respectively on the upper and lower surfaces. Upper and lower base blocks 3, 5 consist of insertion blocks 3A, 5A to be inserted separately into the through- holes of the blocks 1, 2 and quadrangular pyramid-shaped pressing blocks 3B, 5B, respectively. Each of four side blocks 7 has a front quadrangular pyramid portion and a rear quadrangular pyramid portion formed symmetrically in the front and rear direction. A lower quadrangular pyramid block 11 is arranged between the lower quadrangular pyramid slope 1B of the lower guide block 1 and a press ram 13. A sliding block 7 is arranged between the upper quadrangular pyramid slope 1A of the block 1 and the lower quadrangular pyramid slope 2A of the upper guide block 2. An upper quadrangular pyramid block 12 is arranged between the upper quadrangular pyramid slope 2B of the block 2 and a press frame 14.
