PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable achievement of a target bent angle and bent dimension through only one trial bend forming. SOLUTION: A bend forming apparatus is comprised of a reciprocating mechanism 7 to reciprocate an upper die 3 and a back-gage mechanism 2 with stopper members 9, 10. A work piece is bend-formed by moving the upper die 3 keeping the work contacted with the stopper members 9, 10. Data in relation to bend forming conditions including each target value for a bent angle and a bent dimension as well as each actual data for a bent angle and a bent dimension of the work obtained by a trial bend forming are input through an input unit 65. A control unit executes a preliminary calculation for an amount of die movement when the data in relation to the bend forming conditions are input. Then the calculation to correct the amount of die movement and the calculation to estimate the bent dimension are executed, when each actual data for the bent angle and the bent dimension obtained through the trial bend forming are input.
