PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that excessive oil is stuck on a work, the oil is needlessly used and a mating part to which the work is forcibly inserted is soiled with the oil because the conventional one is a method of dipping the work in the oil. SOLUTION: The oil film applying apparatus is an apparatus for forming the oil film on the outer peripheral surface of the nearly rod like work 1 and is provided with an oil film applying member 4 having a through hole 3 on the inside of which an oil coating surface 2 capable of covering the outer peripheral surface of the work 1 with a prescribed small clearance is formed, an oil supply means 5 for sticking clean oil A filtered by a filter 14 on the oil coating surface 2, a work driving means 6 for passing the work 1 through the inside having the oil coating surface 2 on which the oil A is stuck and a control means for controlling the operation. The thickness of the oil film formed on the work 1 is made remarkably thin by the oil film applying apparatus. As a result, the needless use of the oil A is suppressed and the cleaning cost is reduced because of the decrease of the sticking of the oil A.
