PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To save on power consumption while keeping a vehicle in a stopping state after stopping the vehicle with a service braking system. SOLUTION: An ECU 1 of an ACC system controls actions of a brake actuator 3 and a throttle actuator 4 based on signals from a preceding vehicle detecting means 2 such as a radar device in order to control its own vehicle so as to follow up the preceding vehicle. An ECU 21, a power parking brake system, releases the action of the service braking system 5 after the vehicle is stopped with the service braking system 5, and instead, actuates a power parking brake system 12 to keep its own vehicle in the stopping state. Once the power parking brake system 12 is actuated, it holds on the state of actuation even if the power is cut off. Hence, neither the service braking system 5 nor the power parking brake system 12 consumes the power, which contributes to the cut back of the power consumption and the prevention of electric heating.
