PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid application apparatus capable of applying a coating liquid such as a coating agent automatically and properly to the recording surface for improving the weather resistance of a recording surface of a recording medium. SOLUTION: A pair of rollers 72A and 72B rotating in contact with the recording medium 1 and a coating mechanism for applying the coating liquid supplied on at least one of the roller 72A of a pair of the rollers are provided. Further the coating quantity controlling means for partially changing the coating quantity of the coating agent applied on the recording medium by the coating mechanism is provided. In the coating quantity control means, the length of the roller 72B in contact with the back surface of the recording medium in the center axial line direction is set to be shorter than the length of the roller in contact with the recording surface of the recording medium 1 in the center axial line direction in a pair of the rollers 72A and 72B.
