PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for generating a enhanced contrast information digital image with enhanced contrast information when reconstructed so as to efficiently enhance the dynamic range of an electronic camera. SOLUTION: A digital image processor (18, 20) is connected to the digital image generator (4, 12, 14, 16) to receive a first and second digital data set representing images taken at respectively a first and a second, different exposure level. The processor (18, 20) is configured to generate a third digital data set which when reconstructed provides an enhanced contract information digital image and comprises data extracted from each of the first and the second digital data sets selected as representing regions of different radiation absorbency of the subject (8) dependent on the respective first and second exposure levels. |
