PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of impossibility of carrying out monitor control, when the control program of a monitor control unit 17 or 18 undergoes runaway, in a conventional optical amplification repeater. SOLUTION: An optical amplification repeater is equipped with the same feeding unit 2 which feeds an electric power, a detecting means through which the monitor control unit 5 or 6 transmits the detection output indicating the operation state of the other monitor control unit 6 or 5 to the optical receiver of the optical transmission line 10a or 10b of its own system, and a control means which outputs reset signals for initializing control programs for the other monitor control unit 6 or 5 to it, responding to the indication signals sent from the optical transmitter of the optical transmission line 10a or 10b of its own system.
