PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device high in image quality. SOLUTION: A dither converting circuit 9 in a portable telephone set is provided with conversion table storage circuits 13 and 14 for converting the image data of 6 bits to the image data of 4 bits on the basis of each of selected conversion tables and a comparator 17 for comparing a value X0 of data of low-order 2 bits in the image data of 6 bits with a threshold Y0 for dither conversion and selecting the image data of 4 bits generated by the conversion table storage circuit 13 or 14 on the basis of the compared result. Therefore, the dither conversion and/orγcorrection of the image data can be performed by selecting the conversion table.
