PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide component-mounting device/method for realizing high speed and high precision operation. SOLUTION: A main controller 181 is connected with one auxiliary controller 128 controlling the operation of the switch valves 127 of the suction air of nozzles 122 disposed in a head 121 via a communication cable 183 by serial communication. An operation command is transmitted from the main controller to the auxiliary controller. Wiring is not required from the main controller to the respective switch valves, and complicated wiring installation can be avoided, and correspondence for speeding up the parts mounting device and making it highly precise is made possible by transmitting the operation command by serial communication.
