PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spindle motor, capable of attaining labyrinth seal effect by improving assembly accuracy with ball bearings fixed. SOLUTION: This spindle motor comprises a motor base 1, a hub 12A which is rotatably supported via a pair of ball bearings 4A, 4B fitted to a shaft 9 installed standing on the motor base and in which a recording disk 10 is attached to the part thereof, a yoke 6 attached to one side of the hub, a rotor magnet 7 attached to the yoke, a core 2 fixed to the motor base at a prescribed interval from the rotor magnet, and a coil 11 wound around the core. In the spindle motor, a ring washer 8 is arranged between an inner ring end 4Ba1 of the ball bearing 4B on the motor base side and an annular part 18 formed on the shaft side of the motor base, so as not to abut against the inner ring ends of the ball bearings and the annular part.
