PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem of a permanent magnet type motor, where the permanent magnets are allocated in the shape like the Chinese character for 'open' within the rotor iron core that rigidity of rotor iron core is weak and width of rib at the external circumference must be enlarged to keep strength because a magnet inserting port is opened in the rotor iron core and thereby sufficient torque cannot be attained due to leakage of magnetic flux from the rib at the external circumference. SOLUTION: A permanent magnet formed like the shape of Chinese character for 'open' is divided into a plurality of magnets, and each divided magnet is mounted to the inserting position in the shape of character for 'open'. A rib is provided to the contact part of each permanent magnet in order to prevent breakdown of the coupling portion at the outermost circumference of rotor due to the pressure generated, when the adjacent permanent magnets at the internal circumference are placed, in contact with the permanent magnet in the external circumference due to centrifugal force. Otherwise, the breakdown strength is enhanced and leakage of magnetic flux is minimized by covering the permanent magnet formed in the shape of the Chinese character for 'open' and the magnetic material within the shape of character with a ring type non-magnetic material at the external circumference of the rotor.
