The method is directed towards a computer-controlled method for determining the placeholders of players in a golf tournament. In the first step, the method comprises inputting the details of each player into a database. Following this, the handicap of each player is inputted into the database and player rankings are determined. After a game, each player's nett score is calculated, that is, the number of strokes in game minus the handicap of the respective player. This step is repeated for each round of golf of players across a tournament. The method then re-ranks the players by the lowest nett score to the highest nett score and updates the database. The database is said to be accessible over a computer network to allow players to check in on their nett score and ranking.
