Aqueous suspension of nanocapsules comprising a polymer shell and a lipid core comprising an oily solvent and a steroid selected from dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and its precursors or derivatives is new. Aqueous suspension of nanocapsules comprising a polymer shell and a lipid core comprising an oily solvent and a steroid selected from dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and its chemical or biological precursors or chemical or metabolic derivatives is new, where the solvent is selected from 2-alkyl alkanols with 12-36 carbon (C) atoms or their esters; esters of fatty acids with 8-26 C atoms and alcohols with 2-8 C atoms; esters of fatty acids with 2-8 C atoms and alcohols with 8-26 C atoms; fatty alcohol esters of N-acyl amino acids; triglycerides of fatty acids with 6-20 C atoms and/or vegetable oils containing them; liquid polypropylene glycol fatty alkyl ethers; and tocopherol and/or tocopheryl esters. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a cosmetic or dermatological composition comprising the suspension and a carrier; (2) a process for producing the suspension, comprising: mixing the steroid and solvent with a water-miscible organic solvent, the shell-forming polymer and optionally an amphiphilic lipid capable of forming a liquid crystal phase; adding the mixture to an aqueous phase containing a hydrophilic surfactant; and evaporating off the water-miscible organic solvent and part of the water.
