PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color cathode-ray tube having a shadow mask in which the distortion of the color selection electrode by the welding heat is suppressed and wrinkles are hard to be brought about in the color selection electrode and which has excellent color purity. SOLUTION: When a color selection electrode is welded at a pair of opposing each side of the mask frame formed in a frame shape, a provisional welding is made so that the welding strength necessary for holding tentative stretch of the color selection electrode may be obtained, and then, each side and the color selection electrode are finally welded.
