A sprinkler housing (1) having a base portion (2), a sprinkler mounting means, and a wall portion (3) extending upwardly of the base portion, that is configured and arranged to, in use, support and bias the housing to maintain a substantially upright use position both when the housing is stationary and also when the housing is being moved from one location to another, the sprinkler mounting means being adapted to, in use, mount a sprinkler (9) unit having a rotatable sprinkler head (5), and the wall portion being configured and arranged to, in use, substantially protect a said sprinkler unit mounted in the housing from damage, yet at the same time allow at least a portion of the sprinkler head to protrude above at least a part of the upper edge of the wall portion.
