A method of preparing an aqueous base suspension concentrate comprising at least one ionophore antibiotic in an aqueous system containing: a) a wetting and/or surfactant agent; b) at least one antifreeze agent in which the at least one ionophore antibiotic is no more than sparingly soluble; c) a suspension agent; d) a de-bittering agent; e) an antifoam agent or system; f) a preservative g) a pH buffering system and f) water comprises i) preparing a premix of the preservative and some of the antifreeze agent and preparing a premix of the water, wetting and/or surfactant agent and the antifoam agent or system by mixing to provide a primary mixture; ii) mixing the antibiotic with the primary mixture to provide a secondary mixture and iii) preparing a premix of the suspension agent and the remainder of the antifreeze agent (s) and mixing with the secondary mixture.
