A conservatory roof ventilation system comprising a ridge beam (10), the ridge beam having a base side walls (16) and side flanges (14) for supporting glazing bars, the base (12) having at least one ventilation aperture therein, a cowl (22) attachable to the ridge beam underside at a selectable position along the length of the ridge beam. An electrically operated rotor (24) within the cowl and arranged to rotate on a axis generally parallel with the ridge beam, the cowl communicating with at least one ventilation aperture in the ridge beam and an apertured cover (36) mounted on the ridge beam underside for concealing the rotor from below.
