PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it unnecessary to fix a sealing member to a connecting terminal or to pressing it in a housing. SOLUTION: When assembling this waterproof connector, a sealing member 5 is fitted to the peripheral surface of an electric wire 1, and the electric wire 1 is crimped to the rear of the connecting terminal 2. After inserting the required terminal 2 in the terminal receiving hole 22 of a housing 3, a holder member 4 is moved to the electric wire 1 side from a direction horizontally perpendicular to its axial direction, and the electric wire 1 is received in a slit 32 from an opening 33. If the holder member 4 is pressed against the housing 3 under this condition, the engagement hole 34 of the holder member 4 is engaged with the locking protrusion 25 of the housing 3, and the side of the holder member 4 is pressed against the rear surface of the housing 3 with the sealing member 5 compressed by the base part 31 of the holder member 4. Thereby, the sealing member 5 closely adheres to the electric wire 1.
