METHOD FOR READING INFORMATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize method for reading information by optical recording so that writing and reading can be carried out at the same wavelength in a hologram memory using an optical recording layer having polarization inducing birefringence and that nondestructive reading can be also carried out. SOLUTION: The outgoing light from a laser oscillator 1 is converted by a phase plate 5 into reference light 6 as reading light having the polarization direction perpendicular to the polarization direction of the outgoing light to irradiate a hologram memory as an optical recording layer 8 formed on a substrate glass 7. The information written in the memory is recognized on an image pickup device 10.
