PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain both of a low error rate and excellent traveling durability. SOLUTION: The medium has a magnetic layer 2 made of a metal magnetic thin film formed on one principal face of a nonmagnetic supporting body and has a back coat layer 3 on the other principal face of the supporting body 1. The nonmagnetic supporting body 1 contains an aromatic polyamide and its film thickness is controlled to the range of >=3.0μm and <=4.0μm. The back coat layer 2 contains at least polycarbonate polyurethane and its film thickness is controlled to the range of >=0.8μm and <=1.4μm.
