[R-(Z)]-a(methoxyimino)-a-(1-azabicyclo[2.2.2]oct-3-yl)acetonitrile monohydrochloride enhances acetylocholine function via an action at muscarinic receptors within the central nervous system, and thus is useful in the treatment of dementia. Due to said compound having high water solubility and being active at low dosages it is often inconvenient for dosage administration purposes. Disclosed is a controlled release oral dosage form containing said compound, ethylcellulose, dibasic calcium phosphate dihydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, compressed into tablets. Said tablet is coated with a solution consisting of hydroxymethylcellulose followed by a coating of ethylcellulose aqueous dispersion with oleic acid, ammonium hydroxide and plasticizer.
