PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of a light source device getting out of use when short circuit is caused by a bridge formed by mercury in a clearance between electrodes of a discharge lamp, it is undistinguishable from the failure of the light source device having a mercury lamp. SOLUTION: This light source device is constituted by connecting the discharge lamp Ld with a pair of opposedly arranged electrodes E1, E2 to a feeder device for supplying a discharge current to the electrodes E1, E2 for main discharge. The light source device is constituted to detect and display the short circuit caused by the bridge formed by the mercury in the clearance between a pair of electrodes E1, E2 of the discharge lamp Ld. |
