PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information portable device which can smoothly be operated even by a user inexperienced in using the device or the like in the case of being applied to an electronic dictionary for instance. SOLUTION: The column of character input operators 6L1, 6R1, 6L2, 6R2, 6L3 and 6R3 by the array in a horizontal direction of a plurality of the character input operators 6L1, 6Rl 6L2, 6R2, 6L3 and 6R3 is repeated in a vertical direction and a character input function is respectively set to the respective character input operators 6L1, 6R1, 6L2, 6R2, 6L3, and 6R3 so as to make the respective columns of the character input operators 6L1, 6R1, 6L2, 6R2, 6L3, and 6R3 correspond to the array of operators for a left hand and for a right hand in the keyboard of a personal computer.
