PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately extract chroma signals from composite image signals to reduce the dot interference. SOLUTION: Y/C separator circuit 13 obtains a vertical correlation of luminance signals and a vertical correlation of chroma signals. If there are vertical correlations in the chroma signals and in luminance signals of inputted composite image signals, the separator circuit 13 inputs the composite image signals to a comb filter 30 without passing them through pre-bandpass filters 23, 24, 25, obtains the difference of the composite image signals between lines, and generates chroma signals based on the difference between the lines.
