PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plane discharge type AC plasma display panel in which the address discharge characteristics can be stabilized in each discharge cell and the luminous efficiency can be improved. SOLUTION: In the plasma display panel, the surroundings of the discharge cells are partitioned respectively by being divided by a partition wall 15, and these discharge cells are partitioned by a second side wall 15B into display discharge cells C1 that make sustaining discharge opposed to the transparent electrodes Xa, Ya of the pair of row electrodes X, Y and address discharge cells C2 that make address discharge between a bus electrode Yb and a column electrode D opposed to the bus electrode Yb of the row electrode Y. A gap space 'r' that communicates the address discharge cell C2 with the display discharge cell C1 is provided between the display discharge cell C1 and the address discharge cell C2.
