PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refresh method for a SDRAM recording device, in which power consumption is low, and competition between recording and reproducing is few. SOLUTION: For example, four SDRAMs are connected in parallel and constituted as a recording device, switching of blocks of the SDRAM at recording/ reproducing of a recording device, utilizing this SDRAM, is performed using two bits from the least significant bit side of a ROW address, a block of the SDRAM is switched whenever a ROW address is switched, when refreshing is conducted, and a block of the next SDRAM is refreshed for each refreshing of one block of the SDRAM, using upper 2 bits from a count value of a counter counting the number of times, at which the number of times of refreshing reaches the prescribed number of times.
