A safety lighter comprises a casing with an upper opening, a fuel tank in the casing, a piezoelectric unit, a gas guide sleeve, an igniting tip, a lever and a lid rotatably mounted on the top of the fuel tank. The safety lighter additionally has a long notch mounted on the upside of the fuel tank, a guide panel which integrates with the inside top of the lid and expands in the vertical direction, a pin set horizontally at the bottom of the guide panel and threads the long notch, a block located on the path of the rotation of the lid when the lid unlocks, a spring installed in the piezoelectric unit, and a bulge on one side of the guide panel in transverse direction for keeping contact with the top of the piezoelectric unit. The present invention can prevent the unconscious ignition and avoid the accident while children use the lighter.
