DATA FILE RECOGNITION AND CONVERSION SYSTEM AND METHOD

A computerized method and system for designing web pages that automatically recognize the format in which a data file to be used on a web page is stored and that use a rules-based technique for determining whether the data file should be converted to another format, and, if, so, to what format, converts the data file to the most preferred format, and generates a web page that references the converted data file. The method and system allow a user to generate a web page for storage at a site remote from the user, thus enabling a user to remotely design web sites incorporating the converted data files.
