The invention relates to a safety device for preventing a workman at high altitudes from falling down from a ladder, said device being made up of a pressing metal member (1) which rotatable about an axle (2) rigidly fixed onto another metal member (3) sliding on a rail of the ladder longitudinal girder, the axle being provided with a torsion spiral spring (4) permanently thrusting the pressing member (1) provided with an eye (a) wherefrom the worker can be fastened by means of a snap hook, and onto the sliding metal member (3), there is fixed another metal member (5), wherein another axle (6) is rigidly fixed having another spiral spring (7) wound thereon, said spring pressing a locking tongue (8) by means of one end of said spring.
