An examining instrument for extracting information on microbes from a sample produced by capturing microbes in a sample liquid by means of a filter and subjecting the microbes to fluorescent stain to produce the sample. Different exciting lights (1, 2) are projected to the filter, and binary images (A, B, C) of the fluorescences emitted for each field in response to the exciting lights are produced. The binary images (A, B, C) corresponding to the exciting lights (1, 2) are compared. By the comparison, the binary image (B) of the fluorescence emitted in response to a specific exciting light (e.g., exciting light (1)) is automatically identified as a fluorescent image attributable to microbes, and the binary images (A, C) of the fluorescence emitted in response to all the exciting lights are automatically identified as fluorescent images attributable to other substances than the microbes. As a result, microbes in a sample liquid can be detected by an unmanned way.
|
