A toilet system comprises a ventilation apparatus (10, 20, 30, 50, 230, 260, 280, 370, 900) for eliminating the odor from a toilet bowl. The ventilation apparatus includes a ventilation pipe (21, 39, 63, 106, 151, 231, 333) connected to a hose (25, 47, 150, 242, 264, 335, 365, 713, 925), which is attached to a suction device (28, 109). The ventilation apparatus may include a draining device (31, 120, 200, 372) for draining overflow water into the toilet bowl. The toilet system may further comprises an automatic flushing mechanism (69, 130), which includes a sensing device (88, 133) capable of detecting the presence of a user, a motion device (84, 132) being activable by the sensing device, and a lever (70, 131, 500) connected to a flapper (76, 508) for opening and closing a flush valve (85).
