A filament organizer (10) comprises a filament container (14) to hold a major portion of a filament (12) such as an optical fibre. A filament clamp (26), having a spaced-apart relationship from the container (14) retains one or more filaments (12) extending from the container (14). The filaments (12) extend in a substantially parallel array over a frame (24, 22) between the container (14) and the clamp (26). One embodiment of the present invention also includes a filament positioning frame (10) comprising a first plate (16) attached in opposing relationship to a second plate (18). The filament clamp (26) is also held in spaced-apart relationship to the first plate (16) and the second plate (18) using the frame (24, 22) to join at least the first plate (16) to the filament clamp (26).
