<p>A magnetic impedance type magnetic sensor having a soft magnetic film facing a conductive nonmagnetic film in which a large impedance variation can be attained with a carrier signal of relatively low frequency. The magnetic sensor comprises a zigzag meandering conductive nonmagnetic thin film on which at least a pair of electrode terminals are formed at the opposite ends thereof, and a soft magnetic stripe film facing the meandering conductive nonmagnetic thin film at a plurality of regions and having an axis of easy magnetization in the widthwise direction of the stripe wherein a high frequency carrier signal and a DC bias magnetic field are applied to the electrode terminals. An external magnetic field can be detected by AM detecting an AM modulation signal outputted from the electrode terminals and detecting impedance variation of the conductive nonmagnetic thin film caused by the external magnetic field as a variation of the high frequency carrier signal.</p> |
