The invention relates to a water training device (10), in particular for therapy of the back muscles of a person (21) who is submerged under a water surface (49), with the exception of the head and optionally a part of the upper body. The invention further relates to a method for therapy of the back muscles under water. Exercises for strengthening the back muscles should, in particular in the framework of a rehabilitation, be carried out early. By means of the arrangement of the water training device (10) and the person (21) sitting thereon under the water surface (49), the body of the person (21) is protected from damaging overloads. The water training device (10) comprises a base frame (11) with a seat surface (20) and an upper frame (27) for the upper body to be placed on. In order to prevent a submerging of the head below the water surface (49), as a result of the bending to and for of the upper body, the movement of the upper frame (27) may be translated into at least one displacement of the seat surface (20), such that the separation of the head from the water surface (49) remains approximately constant. The movement of the upper frame (27) as a result of the movement of the upper body acts against a resistance generated by a braking unit (57) which may be adjusted by means of regulating devices (60, 61) depending on the therapeutic requirements and the value thereof may be read from display elements (62). |
