It is intended to provide compositions having a TNF production inhibitory effect which are free from any troubles in side effects or safety and inhibi t the excessive production of TNF, thereby being useful in preventing or ameliorating various diseases mediated by TNF such as chronic inflammatory diseases, acute inflammatory diseases, inflammatory diseases caused by infection, autoimmune diseases and allergic diseases; and TNF production inhibitors. It is found out that cinnamon extract, clove extract, licorice root extract and ginger extract have each a TNF production inhibitory effect . Thus, the above object can be achieved by compositions having a TNF producti on inhibitory effect and TNF production inhibitors which contain at least one member selected from among cinnamon extract, clove extract, licorice root extract and ginger extract. |
