The container has a turnlock seal (10) and means to support it which has a center bearing point (4) by which the seal is held tightly on the lid wall (2) in order to couple the seal to movements of the lid wall. The bearing point comprises a pin-type extension of the can lid and a hole in the turnlock seal which inter-engage and are fixed one to the other by locking means. The means of locking may comprise a staple-form component which seats on the pin-type extension with a clamping action.
