Shelving is provided for a refrigerator (10). The shelving includes a pair o f upper (32) and lower rails (34) which extend across the back of the food compartment (14), and a pair of half-width shelves (22-24) selectively positionable on either of the upper (32) and lower rails (34). The shelves (32, 34) can therefore be arranged in a side-by-side manner at the same leve l, in a side-by-side manner at different levels, or one shelf immediately above the other in closely spaced proximity so as to provide a tall storage area within the food compartment (14) of the refrigerator (10).
