The invention is directed to an identification element (8) having an integrated circuit (6) and an antenna coil (7) connected to the integrated circuit (6) (->RFID transponder). The object underlying the invention is to propose an economically priced and reliably operating identification element (8). This object is accomplished in that the antenna coil (7) is comprised of a lower conducting track (1) and an upper conducting track (2), that each track (1, 2) includes a plurality of turns (3), that the two tracks (1, 2) are arranged on either side of a dielectric layer (4), and that the relative position of the two tracks (1, 2) is such that they overlap substantially only in one selected area (5a; 5b) or in two selected areas (5a, 5b).
