The bit for a screwdriver has a facetted drive section (11), a shaft (13) and a driver tip (14) with radially extending flanges (15) defined by grooves (20). Each groove has a base surface (21) and an end face (18) formed on the shaft with a connecting surface (22) between them. The end face has an angle of eighty five degrees to the longitudinal axis of the shaft and the connecting surface has a radius of between point one five to two millimetres.
