PURPOSE: A method of automatically occupying wireless speech channels of a DECT(Digital European Codeless Telecommunications) portable part is provided to automatically assign available channels to speech channels, by retrieving the available channels without completing call attempts even when the first call channel occupancy fails due to all occupied speech channels, so as to improve user inconvenience caused by re-dialing. CONSTITUTION: A portable part makes out lists of channels to be set to speech channels(ST21-ST22). The portable part selects a specific channel of a fixing part to decide whether the channel is available(ST23-ST25). If so, the portable part requests the fixing part to set the corresponding channel to a speech channel, and decides whether the fixing part is capable of setting the channel to the speech channel to make a call through the channel, if the speech channel is formed(ST26-ST28). If a speech channel setting fails relating to every item of the channel lists through the repeated performance of the steps(ST23-ST25)(ST26-ST28), the portable part performs an automatic occupancy function for speech channels to retrieve channels capable of being occupied, and requests the fixing part to set a retrieved channel to a speech channel(ST29-ST32).
