An end assembly for a bedstead comprises a supporting frame 10 which is adapted to be telescopically connected to the mattress frame 20 of a bedstead, a foot board 14 which is pivotally connected to the frame 10, means such as a pair of channel-shaped clips 16 for retaining the foot board 14 in a vertical position and means such as a pair of links 18, 19 for retaining the foot board either in a horizontal position on the side of the frame 10 remote from the mattress frame (Fig. 2) or adjacent the mattress frame (Fig. 3). The supporting frame 10 comprises a pair of side members 11 and a cross-member 12 to which the foot board 14 is pivotally connected by means of hinge members 15. The supporting frame 10 has a pair of attachment tubes 13 provided with longitudinally spaced holes 13a so that the frame may be retained in adjusted position in longitudinal side members 20 of the mattress frame by means of pegs 21 extending through holes in members 20 and through holes 13a in tubes 13. In a modification shown in Fig. 4 a pair of pegs 23 are secured to the cross-member 12 to project through slots 15a in the hinge members 15 and retain the footboard 14 in both its horizontal positions. The supporting frame shown in Fig. 4 is formed in two parts. One part comprises the cross-member 12 and the side members 11, the lower ends 11a of which fit into a pair of sockets 24 of the other part which also comprises the attachment tubes 13 and a member 25 joining the sockets.
