The invention relates to a method that is used to accept the establishment of a new call in a UMTS network node consisting essentially in: for said new call, calculating an equivalent bandwidth according to (i) the quality of service requested for said new call and (ii) the service quality attributes of the UMTS support corresponding to said call; comparing the sum of the equivalent bandwidth for the new call and equivalent bandwidths for all the calls already established in said UMTS network node, with a maximum pre-determined value; and accepting the new call while guaranteeing the quality of service requested only if the sum is less than or equal to said maximum pre-determined value.
