PURPOSE: To provide an erroneous fitting preventing connector capable of preventing erroneous fitting, and providing both forward facing and backward facing fitting connections with a particular mating connector. CONSTITUTION: In the erroneous fitting preventing connector comprising a pair of male and female connectors 1 and 21 to be fit and connected, erroneous fitting preventing protrusion parts 11 and 12 are provided on a fitting part of one of the connectors 1 and erroneous fitting preventing engagement grooves 32 and 33 corresponding to the erroneous fitting preventing protrusion parts 11 and 12 are provided on a fitting part of another of the connectors 21. Outline shapes of both fitting parts are formed point symmetrically to a center C of a fitting face by numbers and positions of the erroneous fitting preventing protrusion parts 11 and 12 and the erroneous fitting preventing engagement grooves 32 and 33 provided on both fitting parts, and the connector 1 is composed so it can be fitted facing both forward and backward only with the corresponding particular mating connector 21.
