PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separately and simultaneously project two videos to two screens with one unit of projector. SOLUTION: Two video rays of light are separated by changing over the video signals from two video signal sources (1) and (2) by means of a switch 1 with the signal from a changeover control section 8 in a frame unit, inputting these signals to a display unit section 2, modulating the rays of light from a light source with liquid crystal panels 2R, 2G and 2B, synthesizing the rays of light with a cross prism 2x, making the synthesized rays of light incident on a video separating section 3, changing over liquid crystal panels 3a in synchronization with the switch 1, converting the plane of polarization of the one video ray of light from s into p or from p into s polarized light, transmitting the p polarized light by a PBS 3b and reflecting the s polarized light. The video ray of light of the p polarized light is projected to the screen 5 by a projection section 4 and the video ray of light of the s polarized light is projected to the screen 7 by a projection section 6. The video ray of light of the s polarized light from the PBS 3b may be reflected by a mirror and may be projected to the screen installed adjacent to the screen 5 by the projection section of the same direction as the direction of the projection section 4. |
